✔️ From a biblical perspective: No.

The Enneagram is more than a personality system. Its esoteric origins involved seeking spiritual knowledge and using that knowledge to gain insight into a person’s inner self. Though it is presented today as a tool for self-understanding, Scripture gives us a clear boundary regarding how God views the occult and lovingly directs us to seek spiritual guidance from Him (Scripture and prayer), not other spiritual sources—always for our good. [1]

✔️ From a scientific perspective: No.

The Enneagram has not been established as a scientifically valid personality assessment. In a 2006 Delphi survey of approximately 94 psychologists, whose average experience was 33 years, found the Enneagram was among the methods rated as discredited. Subsequent research has continued to report mixed evidence regarding its reliability and validity. [2]

✔️ Why does this matter?

Labels can move from descriptions to definitions.

The labels we embrace can shape how we understand our behavior, our relationships, our struggles, and even what we believe is possible for growth and change.

Wrong descriptions → False definitions → Unbiblical conclusions → Real life implications

We must prioritize truth over the perceived usefulness of popular tools, because what we believe about ourselves will ultimately shape how we live. Our identity is too important to entrust to a system that may describe us falsely. [4]
