Sisters, we need to be in God’s Word.

When we neglect the Bible, we tend to look at God through the lens of our emotions and circumstances. We create an inaccurate view of God which looks a lot like us, with desires like our own. We mold Him into what we are able to perceive through experience, when in reality, His ways are not like ours at all! You see, if we are honest with ourselves, we would admit that we are broken…and that we are in desperate need of help. We would be quick to admit our selfishness, and how tentative we are to trust. But thankfully, God knew this…and planned accordingly.

You see, at the perfect time…God came down, put on flesh, and paid the debt that you and i deserve to pay. Jesus made a way back to God that only He (the 2nd Person of the Trinity) could make. Not so we can revel in ourselves…but so that we know God accurately. For when we know God accurately, we witness Him in His Holiness. And when we are captured by His Holiness, we are humbled in comparison. It’s when we look to God in His Word that we see our need all the more, and run to repentance readily…Worshipping Him rightly!

This is why the focused message of our churches should not be relevancy but God’s Holiness. For the Gospel is the only true refreshment for a weary soul…when it knows how parched it truly is. Worship the God of the Bible, friends…For He is Holy, and worthy to be praised!

And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!”

Isaiah 6:5
