Friends, let’s consider this…
Jesus is Lord. Why then are we often slow to treat Him as such? His Lordship is not going to change. We should (and need to) worship Him for Who He is not for whom we want Him to be. Our culture promotes a god or “a Jesus” of their own making… one that fits their individual desires and perspectives. In this post-postmodern culture, emotions are put upon the throne of human hearts, and “truth” becomes merely a personal preference. Our hope is built upon the arrogant sand of self-betterment, and our rest found in the entertainment of self-affirmation. Believe me… this gal is well-acquainted with the trappings of the “old self.” My own arrogance is a testimony of why Jesus came. My need for the Gospel…Christ and Him crucified, is a daily reality (1 Corinthians 2:2).

We are also in an age that twists God’s Words into a false gospel that tickles ears and harms souls (omitting sin and our need for the cross). Friends, the Bible on it’s own doesn’t save us, but it boldly points to the only one who can. We need Him desperately…so why would we look to any other source about Him?
But no matter what…
Jesus is God. He has always been God. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. (John 14:6) Therefore, let’s follow Him. He does not change to fit someone’s interpretation, so let’s rely upon His Word. Worship Him despite what your emotions say. Worship Him in the midst of a darkened season. Gals, worship Him because He is Worthy.
