Psalm 22, written by King David nearly 1,000 years before Jesus’s crucifixion in AD 30 or 33, was penned 300 years before crucifixion was even invented! And Isaiah 53, “The Suffering Servant,” was drafted 700 years beforehand!
Why does this matter?
How could we recognize our Savior without evidence to back up His claims (Mt 11:3-6; Jn 20:30; Lk 24:44-48)? After all, anyone can claim to be the Messiah/Christ. We need objective instructions (signposts) lovingly directing us to the Messiah. Only one person should fulfilling the 300+ prophecies pertaining to the Savior- matching the unique “fingerprint” provided by God. Jesus did this.
“Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened, I announced them to you so that you could not say, ‘My images brought them about; my wooden image and metal god ordained them.” Isaiah 48:5
“Then he [Jesus] said to them, ‘These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.’ Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, ‘Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” Luke 24:44-47
